When to Ski Japan

Ski Japan

Thanks to our trusted supplier, Ski Max for the info

For the powder chasers: February weather patterns are similar to January, meaning great conditions for fresh powder right through to the end of the month. February is less crowded as Australian school holidays are over so those fresh tracks you’re getting will last even longer!

For uncrowded slopes and bluebird days: March brings with it more fine weather and fewer people hitting the slopes. It’s a great time to head over if you prefer to ski or snowboard on piste or are still learning the ropes. In mid-late March accommodation and lift ticket discounts are common.

For families: If you’re limited by school holiday dates it can be tricky as Christmas – New Year is also an extremely popular time for local Japanese to ski or snowboard. There is a bit of a sweet spot in the third week of January (before Chinese NY) where you will find better accommodation availability and less people on the slopes.

Dates to avoid: Chinese New Year falls on 28 Jan – 3 Feb in 2017 meaning the slopes and accommodation will be full to the brim over these dates!
