SUSIE FEBRUARY 2017
SINGAPORE & SRI LANKA
POST HOLIDAY INTERVIEW
1 – WHERE DID YOU GO?
Singapore & Sri Lanka (Colombo, Kandy, Ahungalla & Gaulle)
2- WHO WITH AND HOW LONG FOR?
My husband and nearly one year old son. My mother in law along with my brother in law and his wife.
3- WHO DID YOU FLY WITH AND HOW WERE THEY?
We flew Emirates Business Class to and from Singapore and Sri Lankan Airlines Business Class to/from Colombo. Emirates is one of my favourites so their service and product is still up to scratch. Staff were very helpful with my baby also, cute kids packs and even a baby pack with a spare nappy, bib, wipes and a spoon.
Sri Lankan airlines staff were very friendly and again a handy baby pack for my son.
The aircraft on the way over had been refitted with a new business class seat. It was a slightly awkward seat but did lay flat so that is the more important thing. The way back was quite and old basic business seat but still comfortable.
4- WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT?
Probably the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and seeing them bath while you have lunch! I believe the company is committed to the preservation of the Elephants in Sri Lanka and seemed to be responsible. I also enjoyed visiting one of the Turtle Hatcheries while we were on the South West Coast. Again these small companies are going in the right direction towards increasing turtle numbers. Even after they are safely released back into the ocean , 80% still die on the way out to sea.
I also loved out afternoon visit to Gaulle and walking and eating our way around the Fort Town.
The beaches were surprisingly clean and good for swimming and surfing.
5 – WHAT WAS THE LOWLIGHT?
The guy are immigration on the way IN to Sri Lanka and The DRIVING . I have done quite a bit of travelling and this is probably some of the worst ….. yikes!!!
6 – BEST THING YOU ATE?
Kotthu & Hoppers & Curries ……
7 – WHERE WOULD YOU GO BACK TO?
I would like to visit other parts of Sri Lanka and again spend some time on the coast. I will be interested to see what happens to that western coast line as it becomes increasingly popular with tourists.
8 – TRAVELLING TIP POST HOLIDAY?
Only use reputable tour companies in Sri Lanka, mainly so you have an experienced driver who knows how to deal with that driving. They also provided an infant car seat which meant my little one had no idea of the sudden braking due to oncoming buses.
Use a travel agent to book all of your holiday plans, of course.
