Hello Travellers,

Welcome to our last newsletter for 2015!

Spring always seems to go so fast and as soon as it ends, the countdown to Christmas and the New Year begins!

It’s a great time of year (besides the traffic and shopping centre car parks) to enjoy the company of your family and friends under the glorious Australian sun or if you are heading to the winter in the northern hemisphere we hope you get your White Christmas!

So a few things have been happening since our last newsletter…….

Unfortunately, as we all know, there have been more tragedies around the world.   These are very sad times for the victims of these terrible events and as Christmas draws near we all wish for some kind of peace.

As travellers, we are fortunate to have a unique perspective and understand that although those affected speak a different language and are miles away from our own homes, they are people just like us.   Travelling affords us a broader insight into the world, its different people and cultures, and a better understanding of our place in it.   Travelling allows us to connect with and empathize with those around us and surely this is more important now than ever before.
Never stop travelling.

It’s also a good time to remind everyone of the importance of registering   In case of any emergency, be it man-made or from mother-nature, the Australian Government uses this information to be able to contact you and assist if necessary.   It is free, quick and easy to use and will also give you valuable and up to date information on the destinations you are visiting.

On a lighter note, as life must go on…..

Jannene had a wonderful time in Europe and New Zealand recently; you can read about them here and here

I have also been on the move leaving poor Robyn to fend for herself in the office for a fair few days. (She’s a keeper that one!)

Our office was in the top 16 in the country in the network group we are part of.  (Concorde Agency Network) so as a reward for this we were taken to Tasmania for a lovely long weekend.  You can have a little read about it here.

Then as another reward (we are very popular you see) I was off to Darwin for a very quick weekend to celebrate being a ‘Global Achiever” with Qantas & Viva Holidays.  Jannene also achieved this award but was too busy eating crepes in the South of France. Global Achievers are the top 150 sales consultants, nationwide across all agency networks.
I have written a tiny bit about it here.

Then if that wasn’t enough I was off to escort the first Flack Studios Architecture Tour to Los Angeles & Palm Springs. What a brilliant trip it was, everything worked out perfectly. The group was amazing and the sights we got to see were truly memorable. Even though I’m not an interior designer or architect I really enjoyed seeing the Case Study houses especially the Eames House and also the Sheats/Goldstein House.   It was even better watching the participants in the group tick these things off their bucket lists!
We are taking expressions of interest for the 2016 LA & Palm Springs tour, you don’t have to be a designer or architect but you need to be an enthusiast and ready for a good time. Stay tuned for details in the near future.

We also have a special small group journey to South Africa departing 27 August 2016 lead by multi-award winning wildlife artist, Pete Marshall.   The tour features special inclusions specifically designed for artists such as extended visits Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Eden & the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre with up close & personal encounters & plenty of time to sketch.   Space is extremely limited on this small group departure so please register your interest early to avoid disappointment!
On a personal level, I am excited to be expecting my first baby in March 2016. Maybe the next generation of Travel Agent for East Ivanhoe? I won’t be gone for too long and I plan to be back in November and of course some odd days here and there throughout the year.

If we don’t see you before Christmas and 2016, we wish you all a safe , happy and peaceful festive season but we will be sure to send you an email before then!

Below are our regular sections for your enjoyment.

More now than ever we urge to you use the Smart Traveller website to register and keep up to date with current situations around the world. It is very difficult to find reliable, un-inflated media sources when crises occur so we do find this website to be the most helpful for Australian Travellers. They have also just updated the website and launched apps for IPhone & Android.

I may have shared this with you before but it’s a document I made a while ago to help you become better travellers! Most of you are already “The Seasoned Traveller” , but have a look anyway and if you ever want any other advice on travelling all you have  to do is ask!  Click here.

Did you know that more Australian travellers have their passports stolen in Italy than any other country?

That more Australians are in hospital in the USA than anywhere else

There are approximately 61,000 people flying over the U.S. at any given time.

Traveling and experiencing new cultures can make you smarter.

(Well, we all knew that didn’t we???)

Honolulu is the only place in the U.S that has a Royal Palace.

I posted this on social media a while ago…. I’m thinking of getting some as  company merchandise, what do you think?

Just some fancy technology….
