Well Summer is now officially over with school and work well and truly back to normal; how depressing! Although the sun still seems to be shining which is nice to see. I do hope you all enjoyed the summer holidays and are looking forward to more adventures this year.
It’s full steam ahead in the office with our busiest booking period being the first half of the year. Get in touch now if you are yet to book your escape from the Melbourne Winter. I would also encourage you to think about booking early for 2018 if you are interested in APT & Scenic River Cruises as they are still so popular and sell out well in advance.
I have been away myself recently to Singapore & Sri Lanka. It was a great trip and I have written a little about it on the blog page of our website.
I also attended our network conference in Adelaide in February. In case you dont know, we are a member of the My Travel Group which is owned by helloworld ltd. I must emphasize that this agreement still allows us to be fully independent but gives us the buying power of the larger company and access to most of the helloworld deals you see advertised. We really love being part of this independent group as it suits our business and clients perfectly.
Whilst in Adelaide we were lucky enough to meet Glen Cooper, CEO of Coopers Brewery (Beer!). As a third generation family run business who loves taking on “the big guys”, his ideals really resonated with all the agency owners in the room. He is a top guy and the company has a fascinating history. I liked his “Family Business Values” so much I have made it our Quote of the Quarter (well there are two so it’s Quotes of the Quarter this time!)
Also at our conference we had an update from The Intrepid Group which includes the well-loved brands of Peregrine, Geckos and, of course, Intrepid. Whilst we are already big supporters of these brands, it was nice to be reminded of the projects The Intrepid Group is involved in which really makes them stand out from the rest.
First of all, they offer a wide range of quality small group tours across the globe from off the beaten track budget travel to luxury tours. You can now also earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points on Intrepid Tours (there are a few conditions but they are not painful) and most importantly they have The Intrepid Foundation. I encourage you to look through their fabulous partnerships around the world to see the difference these projects make. With every booking you make, Intrepid make a contribution to their foundation to continue this important work.
I am happy to announce that East Ivanhoe Travel will now match this donation for any new bookings made through us with the Intrepid Group so please let us book your tours with one of these fantastic companies.
That is about all that’s going on in our world this quarter. Below are our regular sections for your enjoyment and be sure to follow us on social media via the links below for up to date information, inspiration and a bit of fun.

QUOTE(s) OF THE QUARTER
Family Business Values:
Be a custodian, if the intentions for the business are for it to remain family owned, then respect the work of past generations, show humility, and understand that despite your shareholding, you are a steward of something far bigger than you.
Change, but stay the same. Move with, and adopt to the ever-changing business environment to remain relevant, but hold onto the core values and beliefs that the family’s involvement has shaped.
